Reflection

Early in the year, i learned the importance of organizing your projects and fallowing instructions. you can see that in my first film it wasn't good you could tell i winged it because instead of thinking about how i wanted it to look ahead of time, i remember just getting on to "the new to me" program and not knowing where to start because i didn't exactly pay atention and because of that i messed up the way i set it up at the begining. On my second project, i learned how to organize several different clips together to flow well.later in the year, i showed that i really had learned that concepy well, since i showed this in other projects. one good example is from "The Water is Wide" throughout the video we created a story to go with the music and we chose several different pictures to use and we had to organize them in a way that flowed well with the music.

I learned alot this year about making and watching films, when analyzing films you want to consider each clip and find its purpose like what do certain items or people symbolize why was it put their? and now every time i watch a movie a comercial i can't help but analyze it and i can see all the mistakes. also the concept of "show not tell" it makes a video a million times better and i see it in alot of films how well they established that in almost every clip.

video effects worksop #2

In this workshop i used the effect from the distort folder called "lens distortion". the purpose of using this effect is to try to see from the perspective of another person for example if he was sick or about to vomet i think it would be cool to use this effect.

The Jabberwocky stanza 2

We used a few different video effects like "Camara blur" ,"Lens distoration", and "Color Replace" but my favorite was "lens distoration" because it helped create a creepy mood to the forest. The idea we were trieng to create using this image and effect was the idea that someone was going to go into the woods to search for the Jabberwocky

Replicate . workshop: video effects

effect 1: you can achieve this by going onto premier pro .
click on video effects on the bottom left panel on the screen.
then click on replicate.
on the control panel click the effect controls tab go down to the effect and replicate as much as you want. the purpose of this effect on a video would be if you wanted to show the perspective of a fly or show multiple screens of the same thing for a music video.

final draft : values video

worksop_video effects.

effect 1: you can achieve this by going onto premier pro .
click on video effects on the bottom left panel on the screen.
then click on replicate.
on the control panel click the effect controls tab go down to the effect and replicate as much as you want. the purpose of this effect on a video would be if you wanted to show the perspective of a fly for example.

effect 2: same procces. but when you go to video effects you would choose "roughen edges" instead.
go to the control panel and click on effect controls. after that you play around with the options under the effect "roughen edges".
the purpose of this effect would be simple, if you wanted the viewer to imagine that part of the video a dream or if you want to make it look like your clip is "on tv"

"Thinking about Our Final Values Video."

Honestly We could no tell what the conflict was...there was TOO much missing for us to understand.

We don't know what the whole story is hence we don't know what the rising action is.

For the story we can't really critique anything because it is unfinished and unclear.

All of the caerma shots seemed off. The one that showed some potential was the opening one of the teacher.
All the shots there were missing would be nice to add in.

3 for the editing. It was on it's way but there wasn't a lot of good editing to go off of.

There was no music. Since the film was unfinished we can't really suggest any music.

There weren't any titles.

POSETIVE comments.

The conflict was between having courage and not having courage. Something that helped contribute to the rising action was when Damaris turned around and waved at Damon. The climax occurred when Damon told her to wait. Damon confesses his love for Damaris. You could add to the resolution by having more interaction between them. This will help give us the idea that the two have formed a friendship. We especially liked the shot where Damaris turns around and waves at Damon because it helped build the idea of the rising action. We think you should add a shot before Damon says to wait. The new shot would be of Damaris standing up to walk away. This would help strengthen the idea that she feels like giving up on him. We rate the editing as a 7. We would suggest cutting out the unnecessary shots at the beginning. There was no music. There were no titles or credits. Overall, your film was a work in progress. What we like best was the storyline. Our strongest suggestion is that you finished editing.

Story:
The conflict was between the boy that didn’t want to work with girl and the girl that wanted to work with the boy.
Here are the shots, dialog, and actions that contributed to the rising action:
1. shot: medium shot on the teacher talking
2. shot: scanning the whole room
3. shot: over the shoulder shot of the boy and girl talking
4. shot: two shot on boy and girl
Here are some suggestions about adding to the rising action:
1. you could add more dialog
2. you could also add more shots to make the video longer
The climax occurred when there was no climax
Describe what happens during the resolution: there was no resolution
You could add to the resolution by making more clips for the video. This would help give us the idea that/create the impression that the video will be more complete.
Camera shots: variety, effectiveness, specific shots that achieved a certain effect.
We especially like the part where Jessica keeps messing up on her line because it helped emphasize the idea that she didn’t know her lines.
We think you might add a shot right after the end, the new shot would be a over the shoulder shot this would help create the feeling that the boy and girl like each other.
Edits:
On a scale of 1-10, we rate the editing a 2. One edit we could change was the shot when jessica messes up on her line.
We noticed between the only two shots you have you don’t have any after it.
Use of music and sound effects:
a. Describe first use of music. Why was it used? Did it work? Would you suggest something else?
The first time music came in was never. I didn’t quite work because there was absolutely no music. You could also try adding music so it will enhance your video.
b. Describe the point in the video when use of the music was MOST IMPOTANT. Why was it used? Did it work? Would you suggest something else?
There was n music. I would try adding music to help develop the mood of the video.
Titles and Credits:
I dint see any titles in your video.
There was no titles.
Add some titles
There was no credits
Overall:
Overall, we thought your film was okay. What we liked the best was damon’s acting. Our stongest suggestion is that you should complete it.

The conflict was between having the courage to talk to a girl you like, or not having courage. Some shots that contributed to the rising action are: Damon looking at Damaris, Damaris waving at Damon and him turning away, and Damaris asking if Damon wants to be her partner or not. To add to the rising action you could show a close up on Damaris being disappointed when Damon says no to her offer. And maybe instead of her telling her riht away why he does not want to be her partner, you can show them after class. Then damon could explain himself. The climax occurred when Damon explains why he does not want to be partners with Damaris. The resolution is when Damaris is flattered. To add to the resolution, you could show later that they ended up dating or something, so there is more of a happy ending.
We especially like the shot of Damon daydreaming while looking in Damaris's direstion, it is really cute and adds to the feeling that he likes her. We think you should end the classroom short after Damon says "I don't think I can" to show he was not her parnter for the activity, then when class is out show him thinking about telling Damaris the real reason why he did not want to be her partner. This would help emphasize Damon thought about Damaris and wants her to know he likes her.
On a scale of your editing we would give you a 4, you need to cut the bloopers of Jessica in the beginning. Also the movement of the camera between Damon and Damaris is really slow, you should either cut that or refilm. If you do choose to refilm, try to re-do the over the shoulder shot so you do not cut off any heads. Also when Damaris is walking to Damon you the camera is down so you do not see her face, if you decide to refilm we suggest moving the camera so you can see her facial expressions.
We think if you add music to the part when Damon is daydreaming, it would really add to the mood of Damon liking Damaris.
You need to add titles in your videos. Overall we thought your video is cute, but some shots are awkward and refilming is the best way to fix it.

The conflict was between having courage and not having courage. The shot that contributed to the rising action was when Damon looked away as soon as Elisa waved at him. Here is a suggestion to the rising action; you could add missing clips to the video. You could also not repeat the same scenes over and over again. We know that your film is not completed yet so we don't know what to suggest since we have not seen a final rough draft. I suggest that you use music to make a greater impact on the viewers and use clean transitions and cuts. Keep up the good work.

This post is from michael and cody.
The positive comments that were most meaningful to us were from zack and sam. told us that they liked the shot where Damaris turns around and waves at Damon because it helped build the idea of the rising action, and that was helpful because it gave a stron support that we did something right it could be better and the encouragement ment alot ot us.
The two best suggestions we got were from luis and lizzy suggested that we add music to make a greater impact on the viewers We agree with this suggestion, and our plan to address it is to add music to our video.

comment on zack's comment

thanks zack we apreciate your encouragement thanks for the cool ideas they helped alot. thankyou again for giving us fresh tips on what to add.

comment on Alicia's coment

we found this comment to be very helpful adding a closeup on damaris's face to show her disapointment would be a great idea thankyou this means A LOT to us. we also liked your idea on how instead of the boy explaining himself during class we could have them outside of class talking.

Over The Shoulder Shot

this wasnt as easy as it looked although i can say i had fun doing it originaly zach was going to do the part i am doing but because he didnt feel so confident i came in and helped him, what i learned about the over shoulder shot was that it showed the expressions of mainly one person but if the @nd person is to the side you could possibly catch their expressions aswell, how my group and i decided to do the shot was standing up and my back to the camara and julie facing the camara while she talked to me.
